Austrian Airlines commenced its flying operations on 31 March 1958 with four Vickers Viscount 779 planes on the Vienna - London route. Lauda Air began in 1979 with charter flights on two small Fokker 27 planes. On 1 April 1980, Tyrolean Airways started flying from Innsbruck to Vienna and Zurich with a Dash 7.

Effective July 01, 2011 JetPrivilege members flying on qualifying Austrian flights will earn JPMiles based on their class of travel as follows:
JetPrivilege members can earn and redeem JPMiles only on qualifying Air France flights.
Qualifying Austrian flights are those flights which are coded as 'OS' and operated by Austrian Airlines, Austrian Arrows or Lauda Air. Only those flights which are coded as 'OS' and operated by Austrian Airlines, Austrian Arrows or Lauda Air will be eligible for redemption of JPMiles.
JetPrivilege members will earn JPMiles based on their class of travel as stated in the table above.
Earning of JPMiles is restricted only to the above mentioned classes. Travel under any other class will not be eligible for mileage earning unless specifically mentioned.
For redemption of JPMiles, JetPrivilege members have to contact the JetPrivilege Service Centre in Mumbai, India. Members will need to send their requests at least 14 working days prior to their intended date of travel.
To claim retro credit of JPMiles for your travel, please provide your original boarding card and ticket jacket to the JetPrivilege Service Centre.
Guests will be responsible for paying all the taxes, surcharges and levies, as applicable, while redeeming on airline partners.
Guests will be responsible for arranging all travel-related documents such as Passport, VISA, etc., when redeeming JPMiles for an award ticket on our Airline Partners.
