Baggage dimensions

The maximum dimensions per bag (H + W + L) must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches).


The ticket shows your free baggage allowance. Allowances may be based on weight or pieces (number of bags).

Note:

• Infant with a seat can avail the same free baggage allowance as applicable to adult guest.

• Excess baggage charges are INR 250 per kg for baggage over and above the free baggage allowance for Jet Airways / JetKonnect / JetKonnect Première for travel within India.

• For travel between North America and India Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Gulf / Middle East, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Colombo, Excess baggage charges on the piece concept are calculated at the rate of USD 200 for any piece weighing a maximum of 23 kg. If the extra piece exceeds the maximum dimension and weight, overweight rates will also apply. Overweight charge is USD 150 (Over 23 kgs & less than 32 kgs) and Oversized charge is USD 150 per piece.

• For journeys between North America and London, charge for the second piece is USD 100 and for the third piece onwards, a flat rate of USD 200 (per piece) will be charged for each extra piece. The maximum dimension and weight for each extra piece should be the same as advised in Checked Baggage category, otherwise overweight rates will also apply. Overweight charge is USD 150 (Over 23 kgs & less than 32 kgs). Oversized Charge is a flat rate of USD 150 per piece weighing between 23 to 32 kgs.

• For journeys between North America and Europe, charge for the second piece is USD 100 in Economy. Third piece onwards a charge of USD 200 / piece (maximum of 23 kgs each) will be applicable. The maximum dimension and weight for each extra piece should be the same as advised in Checked Baggage category, otherwise overweight rates will also apply. Overweight charge is USD 150 (Over 23 kgs & less than 32 kgs). Oversized Charge is a flat rate of USD 150 per piece weighing between 23 to 32 kgs.

• Jet Airways will not accept any single piece of baggage weighing more than 32 kgs.

• Free Baggage Allowance is applicable only on sectors operated by Jet Airways. Any baggage over the free checked allowance will be charged as excess baggage.

• For International Travel:

  • Jet Airways will not accept any single piece of baggage weighing more than 32 kgs

  • Infant with a seat can avail same free baggage allowance as applicable to adult guests.

  • Free Baggage Allowance is applicable only on sectors operated by Jet Airways. Any baggage over the free checked allowance will be charged as excess baggage.

Import of rice into the US is not permitted because of the risk of it being contaminated by Khapra beetles.

For interline bookings with Jet Airways and Hong Kong Express Airways, 30 kgs Free Baggage is allowed in Economy Class for routings originating from Manila.

Baggage Allowance for Seamen

In order to benefit sailors / seamen's, we allow seamen's traveling to join duty or returning home for duty to carry additional 20 kgs of baggage. This free baggage allowance will be in addition to the normal free baggage allowance as mentioned above.

Eligibility: To avail this baggage allowance the ticket should be issued as a seamen discounted ticket based on normal fare with the seamen discount code mentioned on the ticket and should hold a valid CDC.

Special Marine Baggage Allowance

Effective February 1, 2013, Baggage Allowance of 40 kgs will be applicable for guests booked on Special Marine Fares for travel within India on Jet Airways operated and Jet Airways Marketed / S2 Operated flights. This offer is applicable on Y, M, U, N, L & Q booking classes only.

Eligibility:

• Persons who have an active seagoing duty and work on board a ship belonging to a merchant marine and are joining such ship.
• Anyone employed to work in the vessel and whose names are added to ship's crew manifest and has a letter of authorisation on the letterhead of the shipping company or Cruise line.
• Engineers / Contractors travelling to carry out work on a vessel whether in dock or at sea. Persons in possession of a seamen's book engaged in the repositioning of semi-submersible or drilling rigs under their own power.

Terms & Conditions:

• Special Marine fares are applicable on Jet Airways operated and Jet Airways Marketed / S2 Operated flights
• Special Marine fares are applicable on domestic India routes only.
• A written application must be submitted by the shipping company concerned, its agent, the ship's captain, a consul, a national shipping office or the appropriate government agency.
• Reservation must be made by the shipping company concerned, its agent, a consul, a national shipping office or the appropriate government agency concerned.
• The application must include a full description of the transportation required, place of origin and destination, name of passenger, name of vessel and company and date of flight departure.
• The seaman's ID booklet must be presented at the time of ticketing.
• The guest must hold a valid CDC.
• Tickets have to be issued on 9W documents only.
• Tickets will be printed with 40 kgs baggage allowances.
• Endorsement as "Valid on 9W / 9W* only & Baggage 40kg only against CDC"
• No-show penalty of INR 1500 will be levied



Baggage Allowance for guests travelling on migrant visas

Guests travelling on migrant visas* ex-India will be permitted to carry a maximum of 40 kilos as free baggage allowance, where the weight concept is applicable on Jet Airways operated international flights and on the connecting Jet Airways operated domestic flights.


The migrant visa baggage allowance can be availed only on the migrant visa holder's first outbound journey and not on subsequent trips.




*Visas eligible for migrant visa baggage allowances are those issued for immigration purposes. Visas also include those issued to dependants of the primary migrant visa holder who are entitled to immigrant status by virtue of their relationship such as spouse, children, fiancee, etc. Australian Fiancee / Provisional Spouse visas are also eligible.




Free Baggage Allowance in Economy for Codeshare journeys from Australia to India with Qantas

For tickets issued on / after 25 July, 2012, Jet Airways has revised the Free Baggage Allowance in Economy to 30 kgs for Codeshare journeys originating from Australia to India and tickets purchased in Australia.



• This baggage allowance will be applicable to Jet Airways marketed / Quantas operated flights only.
• This allowance will be applicable for journeys via Singapore only.


Free Baggage Allowance for Codeshare / Interline journeys between India and Australia with Qantas

For bookings effective February 26, 2013, the free baggage allowance for Codeshare / interline journeys between Australia and India with our partner Qantas Airways is as follows. This policy is applicable for travel effective March 31, 2013.


• Première – 40 kgs
• Economy – 30 kgs




Baggage Allowance for guests travelling from India to Australia on Qantas marketed Jet Airways Codeshare flights

For guests travelling from India to Australia on Jet Airways - Qantas Codeshare flights that is operated by Jet Airways and marketed by Qantas, the baggage rules of Qantas will be apply.

Free Baggage Allowance for Jet Airways - Air Canada Interline / Codeshare through journeys between India and Canada.

For tickets booked on / after May 18, 2012, Air Canada will allow two free check-in bags (weighing 23 kgs each) in Economy cabin. This policy will apply to Jet Airways - Air Canada Interline / Codeshare through journeys between India and Canada.

Note:

• Two free check-in bags will be permitted only upto the first port of entry in Canada.
• Air Canada will permit only 1 Bag as free baggage allowance if there is a stopover at London.
• If tickets are booked before May 18, 2012, a Second baggage fee of USD 70 will apply when Air Canada is the first international check-in carrier.

Free Baggage Allowance for Interline journeys originating from Japan to India

Effective October 29, 2012, for tickets booked in Japan , the Free Baggage Allowance for the return leg of Interline journeys originating from Japan to India is as follows -



• Première - 40 kgs
• Economy - 30 kgs

Note:
• This baggage allowance is applicable for interline journeys with Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways only.
• This baggage allowance is applicable for the journeys via Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok only.




Free Baggage Allowance for journeys originating from UK to India with regional interline connections

For bookings effective May 13, 2013, Jet Airways has revised free baggage allowance for journeys originating from UK to India with regional interline connections.

Note:

• LCD / LED TVs exceeding the size 55 inches will not be accepted.

* For flights departing from Gulf airports on Boeing 737 aircraft, the maximum acceptable size for LCD / LED TV is 48 inches.

When your journey connects with another airline, excess baggage charges of that airline may also apply.

Please Note: All guests carrying check-in baggage / items exceeding the specified dimensions of 158 cms will be charged a flat fee of INR 1000 at the airport counter. This fee will be charged in addition to the existing excess baggage fee wherever applicable. This fee is applicable to all guests travelling within India.
