GENERAL - TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT

 

General Information
While compiling this information, Jet Airways has endeavored to ensure that all information is correct. However, no guarantee or representation is made to the accuracy or completeness of the information contained here. This information is subject to changes by Jet Airways without notice.

 

Class of Service
Jet Airways offers three classes of service:

  • First Class
  • Première 
  • Economy

Note:

  • Première passengers can pre-reserve their choice of seats at the time of reservation.

Première is available on most of our Boeing flights. However we do not offer this class on ATR aircraft. Première class is available on our Airbus and Boeing 777 aircraft.

 

Non-Smoking Flights
The Government of India prohibits smoking on all Jet Airways flights. As a separate precautionary measure, all toilets are fitted with smoke detectors.

 

Reservation
We suggest that you make your reservations as far in advance as possible through any Jet Airways office or approved Travel Agent. You can also book pay and purchase your eticket using our online booking facility. The Jet Airways reservation system incorporates sophisticated, state-of-the-art technology. Since inception, the Jet Airways network has been fully computerised and we were the first to fully automate our reservation system. Jet Airways was also the first domestic carrier to be co-hosted on SABRE, the most sophisticated and largest reservation system in the world. We kindly request you to supply a contact number during reservation for each city in your itinerary. This will enable us to inform you of any irregularity with a flight on which you are booked.

 

Reservation Requirements

  • Reservations are not confirmed until recorded as accepted by Carrier or its authorised Agent.
  • As provided in carrier's Regulations, certain fares may have conditions, which limit or exclude the passenger's right to change or cancel reservations.

Ticketing/Fares and Time Limit
All basic fares for domestic and international routes are quoted before taxes, surcharges, and fees. In addition to the basic fare, we are required by the Government to charge and collect Passenger Service Fee (WO) as applicable in case of both INR and USD fares for domestic and international sectors. This is applicable for each flight coupon. Besides, an insurance and fuel surcharge (YQ) is also levied in case of international sectors, applicable per flight coupon. These two levies (WO and YQ) are collected along with the basic fare at the time of issuance of the ticket. 

 

Please note that fares are subject to change without notice. If you have purchased a ticket and subsequently the fares have increased then  you will not be required to pay the difference unless you decide to change your travel dates which requires reissuance of the ticket. In such cases the same ticket will be repriced at the applicable fare at the time of making changes.

 

Please do note the following:

  • Please check your ticket after it is issued, for its correctness.
  • Please also read the terms and conditions of carriage printed on the ticket jacket.

Unless otherwise specified, the period of validity of domestic and international tickets issued at normal one way, round or circle trip fares shall be one year from date of commencement of travel, or if the first flight coupon is open dated and or/unused, from the date of issue thereof. You can change your travel itinerary after you have purchased your ticket through our offices or through an authorized travel agent. In case you do, please get your ticket appropriately stickered or revalidated at any of our offices, airport ticket counters, or by an authorized travel agency. Please do note the following with regard to the cancellation, and revalidation of tickets, purchased under Normal fares.

 

For sectors within India:

1) Any change to a confirmed ticket issued on INR fare – including cancellation, postponement, change of itinerary – must be done at least one hour before a flight. When a ticket is reissued from a higher to a lower fare, a re-issuance charge is levied, irrespective of whether there is any change in sector/class of travel.

 

2) Subject to the ticketing time limit, if the same is not met, a 25% cancellation charge on the basic fare will be applicable. This holds true for a published full-fare ticket. For special fares, please check the applicable cancellation charges. A documentation charge is levied when a confirmed ticket is processed for refund.

 

3) Refunds will be processed subject to refund penalties as per fare rules and will be paid as per the original currency of payment, country of payment and form of payment.

Refunds are subject to refund penalties as per the Fare Rules. We will refund the value of tickets purchased by you from our offices or airport ticketing counters directly to you:

  • If the ticket has been paid for in cash, we will refund the amount in cash; and
  • If the ticket has been paid for by credit card, the proceeds will be credited to the respective credit cards.

4) The refund of a ticket issued by a Travel Agent, must be processed through the issuing Travel Agent.

 

5) Cancellation charges do not apply to domestic tickets where U.S. Dollar fares are applicable. 

 

6) Tickets issued outside India will be refunded in the country where the ticket has been purchased.

 

7) In case you are holding an e-ticket and wish to cancel, postpone or change your itinerary, you are required to report to our ticketing counters for the same. Passengers can enjoy the facility of cancelling or changing their e-tickets online, through the Manage Booking facility.

 

8) Please note that certain fares may have conditions which limit or exclude your right to get a refund. For complete details, please refer to the terms and conditions of that special fare or contact your nearest Jet Airways ticketing office or 24 hours reservation centre or your travel agent.

We reserve the right to make a refund only to the person named in the ticket or to the person who originally paid for the ticket, and to refuse a refund if any application for such refund is made later than 365 days after the expiry date of the ticket. 

For international sectors:
1) Tickets for international travel are subject to cancellation charges These are specific for a particular sector. Related details are available at our offices, airport ticket counters, on our website whilst booking online and from our authorised travel agents.

Tickets issued on Jetairways.com:
1) Refund facility is open only for bookings done on or later than February 12, 2007.

2) The option for cancellation & refund is currently available only for sectors booked for travel within India. Should any of the sectors in your booking contain an international destination, the cancellation option will not be available online. 

3) The retrieved itinerary will display only the unutilised segments in your booking. If the status of your booking is either checked-in, used or refunded, the same will not be displayed.

4) Once we receive your refund request, we will process the refund within 07 working days.

5) Should there be any cancellation / refund fees, we will deduct the relevant amount and the balance will be refunded to the same credit card used to purchase the original itinerary.

Cancellation/Refund/Reissuance of ticket
Passengers are requested to contact the carrier for more information on the policy.

Concessional Fares
A 50% concession on the basic Adult fare in Economy Class on all Domestic sectors within India operated by us is offered to Students, Senior Citizens (65 years and above), Cancer Patients, Blind passengers and Armed Forces personnel. However, limited numbers of seats are allocated on each flight for the carriage of such traffic. In addition, certain conditions apply and formalities are required to be fulfilled in each case, and these and related details are available at our offices, airport ticket counters and from our authorized travel agents. All taxes, surcharges, and fees, however, are applicable as per normal (non-discounted) Adult fares. 

From time to time we offer special fares and packages – detailed terms and conditions of which are available at our offices, airport ticket counters, with our travel agents and on our website.

Infant fare for travel within India

Infant tickets purchased within India:
Infant tickets can be purchased in India at a flat rate of INR 300, plus a Passenger Service Fee (WO) of INR 225 per sector, irrespective of any destination or class of travel within India.

Infant tickets purchased in any country other than India:
Infant tickets purchased in a country other than India, will be charged 10% of the basic fare (based on the fare type) for travel within India. Applicable taxes, surcharges, and fees will be charged in addition to this fare.

Infant fare for travel on international routes

Infant tickets purchased within India or overseas will be charged at 10% of the basic fare (based on the fare type). Applicable taxes, surcharges, and fees will be charged in addition to this fare.

Please note that no seat will be allocated for an infant traveling with us.

Jet Airways offers a Prepaid Ticket Advice (PTA) facility
This facility enables passengers in one location to obtain a ticket that has been paid for, in another location. With effect from March 20, 2006, Jet Airways will collect "PTA Service Charge" of INR 200 on every PTA issued in India for domestic travel within India. This PTA service charge will not be applicable on PTAs issued from out side India for domestic travel within India. The PTA service charge will be collected for every PTA transaction and not as per number of passengers existing in the PTA PNR. The service charge of INR 200 will be applicable on every PTA irrespective of INR / USD fare charged for the journey, for difference in fare, for excess baggage charges, staff rebated tickets etc. The
PTA service charge will not be applicable on JP redemption and award tickets sponsored by Jet Airways.
 
PTA service charge is non commissionable and non-refundable for any reason. Once the PTA is transmitted, they are subject to cancellation charges irrespective of the fact whether the ticket is issued or not.

 

The authority (PTA) to issue a ticket is transmitted from the city of purchase to the boarding / ticketing city.

 

If a passenger has not paid for his or her ticket (or made credit arrangements with Carrier or its authorised Agent) prior to the specified ticketing time limit, Carrier may cancel the reservation.

For a PTA that attracts cancellation charges when recalled, the applicable cancellation charges will be collected and the refund will be processed.

 

For a PTA that does not attract any cancellation charges, when recalled, INR 100 will be collected as recall charges and then the refund will be processed.

 

Personal Data
The passenger recognises that personal data as given to Carrier for the purpose of making a reservation for carriage and for obtaining ancillary services. For these purposes the passenger authorises Carrier to retain such data and to transmit these to its own offices, other carriers or the providers of such services, in whatever country they may be located.

 

Check-in Time
For Domestic flights
Check-in usually starts 150 minutes before departure and the Check-in counters will be closed 30 minutes before departure time for all classes of passengers.


For International flights:
Check-in starts 3 hours prior to departure, and Check-in counters will be closed 45 minutes before departure time for all classes of passengers.

Certain formalities are required to be completed by the passenger at the airport before and after being accepted by the airline for travel. To complete these formalities and the check-in process, passengers are required to arrive at the airport sufficiently before the departure time of the flight.

 

Passengers are requested to report 120 minutes prior to departure time at Srinagar, Jammu & Leh airports for check-in due to extra security measures.

 

Please note that passengers travelling on flights originating from Jammu, Srinagar and Leh stations will not be allowed to carry any hand baggage.

:

  • Unless and otherwise specified in the fare rule, the 2 piece baggage allowance will apply on all domestic India fares for travel to/from USA/Canada subject to providing proof of such travel, failing which excess baggage charges will be applicable.
  • Excess baggage charges per kg. will be calculated at the rate of 1.1% of the Economy class normal fare.
  • Jet Airways will not accept any single piece of baggage weighing more then 32 kgs.
  • Free Baggage Allowance is applicable only on sectors operated by Jet Airways. Any baggage over the free checked allowance will be charged as excess baggage.

Free Baggage Allowance for International Flights (Journey to/from South East Asia & South Asian Subcontinent):

Free Baggage Allowance (Journey to/from Europe/UK):

Class Allowance Excess Baggage Charges
First Class 69 kgs. The maximum dimensions per bag (H+W+L) must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches). 

Excess baggage charges per kg. will be calculated at the rate of 1.5% of the highest normal direct adult oneway Y class fare. 

Première 69 kgs. The maximum dimensions per bag (H+W+L) must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches). Excess baggage charges per kg. will be calculated at the rate of 1.5% of the highest normal direct adult oneway Y class fare.
Economy 28 kgs. The maximum dimensions per bag (H+W+L) must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches). Excess baggage charges per kg. will be calculated at the rate of 1.5% of the highest normal direct adult oneway Y class fare.

Free Baggage Allowance for Infants under 2 years of age - without a seat (Journey to/from Europe/UK):

First Class Total 3 pieces of 23 kgs. each. The maximum dimensions per bag (H+W+L) must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches). A flat rate of USD 150 (per piece) will be charged for each extra piece. The maximum dimension and weight for each extra piece should be the same as mentioned. For any piece weighing between 23 kgs. to 32 kgs., a flat rate of USD 50 will be charged for the overweight piece.
Premiere Total 3 pieces of 23 kgs. each. The maximum dimensions per bag (H+W+L) must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches). A flat rate of USD 150 (per piece) will be charged for each extra piece. The maximum dimension and weight for each extra piece should be the same as mentioned. For any piece weighing between 23 kgs. to 32 kgs., a flat rate of USD 50 will be charged for the overweight piece.

For any piece weighing between 23 kgs. to 32 kgs., a flat rate of USD 50 will be charged for the overweight piece.

Please note:

  • The baggage allowances are carrier regulated and might differ between carriers.
  • The free baggage allowance as mentioned above is applicable only on sectors operated by Jet Airways. Any baggage over the free checked allowance will be charged as excess baggage. 
  • Please check the baggage allowance for all Special Fares.

Baggage in excess of these allowances will only be carried subject to space and weight availability on the aircraft. Excess baggage will be subject to charges at the published tariffs.

Articles
Articles, which may be carried free in addition to the free baggage allowance (Subject To Security Regulations).

  

1) An overcoat wrap or blanket.

2) An umbrella or walking  stick.

3) A lady’s handbag, lady’s  pocketbook or lady’s purse

4) A reasonable amount of reading matter for the flight

5) A small camera and/or a pair of binoculars

6) Infant food for consumption in flight and infant’s carrying basket

7) A fully collapsible invalid’s wheelchair and/or a pair of crutches and/or braces or other prosthetic device for the passenger’s use provided that the passenger is dependent upon them.

 

Security Regulations
According to security regulations, passengers are advised:

 

1) Not to accept any packets from unknown persons.

 

2) Not to leave baggage unobserved at any time, especially within airport area. Unattended baggage may be removed by Airport Security Staff as object of suspicion.

 

3) To declare before baggage screening / check-in if carrying any arms or explosive substance. Concealment is an offence under Aircraft Act and Rules.

 

4) To carry only one hand baggage, the sum of the three dimensions (viz. length, breadth and height) of which should not exceed 115 cm.

 

5) Battery cells / Dry cells carried in the hand baggage or in any electrical/electronic items are liable to be removed and the airline would not be in a position to hand-over the same at the destination.The same may be carried in registered baggage.

 

Prohibited Articles
Also carriage of dry cell batteries, knives, alcohol, scissors, sharp instruments, tools, fire arms, ammunition, and their toy replicas are prohibited in the passenger cabin.


Valuable Articles
Currency, precious metals, jewellery, negotiable instruments, securities, personal identification documents and other items of value, are best carried with the passengers in the cabin.


Restricted Articles
Medicines and toiletries in limited quantities which are necessary or appropriate for the passenger during the journey, such as hair sprays, perfumes and medicines containing alcohol may be carried. Many of these listed articles can be carried as air cargo provided they are packed in accordance with cargo regulations.

 

The following items may be carried:
Dry ice in quantities not exceeding 2 kilograms (5 pounds) per passenger, used to pack perishables, as carry-on baggage only.
Alcoholic Beverages. With approval of the carrier(s), small oxygen cylinders for medical use and small carbon dioxide gas cylinders worn by passenger for the operation of mechanical limbs.

Dangerous Articles In Baggage
For safety reasons, dangerous articles, such as those listed below, must not be carried in passenger’s baggage.

 

Compressed gasses deeply refrigerated, flammable non-flammable and poisonous) such as butane oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders and compressed gas cylinders.

 

Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries and apparatus containing mercury.

 

Explosives, ammunitions, fireworks and flares, ammunition including blank cartridges handguns, fire works, pistol caps.

 

Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter refills, alcohol, lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners, fire-lighters, lighters that need inverting before ignition, matches

 

Radioactive material, Briefcases and attache case with installed alarm devices.

 

Oxidising materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides.

 

Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials.

 

Other dangerous articles such as magnetised materials, offensive or irritating materials.

 

The Government of India Prohibits the use of mobile phones on board at all times.

 

Domestic Travel

 

Conditions of Contract for scheduled domestic flights within India:


The carriage is subject to Jet Airways regulations relating to the conditions of Non-International Carriage (Passenger and Baggage) framed in accordance with The Carriage by Air Act, 1972 and Notification regarding application of the Carriage which is non-international. These regulations are known as Jet Airways Non-International Carriage (passenger and baggage) Regulations 1992.  The liability of the company for damage sustained in the event of the death or wounding of a passenger or any other bodily injury suffered by a passenger or by his registered baggage during the course of carriage by air will be governed by the provisions of sections 4,5,6 and the rules contained in the Second Schedule of Carriage by Air Act 1972 with certain exceptions, adaptations, modifications etc. as mentioned in the Govt. of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation Notification and as amended from time to time.

 

Excerpts from Regulations
1) The Company reserves to itself the right, without assigning any reason, to cancel or delay the commencement or continuance of the flight or to alter the stopping place or to deviate from the route of the journey or to change the type of aircraft in use without thereby incurring any liability in damages or otherwise to the passengers or any other person on any ground whatsoever.  The Company also reserves to itself the right to refuse to carry any person whom it considers unfit to travel or who in the opinion of the company may constitute risks to the aircraft or to the persons on board.

 

2) If at any stage it is found that the aircraft with the booked load or passengers etc. will be over loaded the Company will have the right to decide which passenger or articles shall be off-loaded and such decision shall be binding.

3) The Company is not liable for any loss or damage occasioned by delay in the carriage by air of passengers or baggage. Receipt without complaint of registered baggage on the termination of the journey shall be prima facie evidence that the baggage has been delivered correctly and in good condition.

4) The Carrier’s liability for loss, delay or damage to baggage is limited to INR 450 per kilo, unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges are paid.  Excess valuation may not be declared on certain types of articles.  The Carrier assumes no liability for fragile or perishable articles.

 

5) The ticket issued by the Company shall be subject to rules of cancellation made by the Company for the time being in force, which may be seen at any office of the Company on request.

6) In the event of death of a passenger, or any bodily injury or wound suffered by a passenger which results in a permanent disablement incapacitating him from engaging in or being occupied with his usual duties or business occupation, the liability of the Carrier for each passenger shall be INR 7,50,000 if the passenger is 12 years or more of age and INR 3, 75,000 if the passenger is below 12 years of age on the date of the accident.

International Travel

Terms and conditions of carriage applicable to International travel only:

Subject to conditions of contract in this ticket. This ticket is not valid and will not be accepted for carriage unless purchased from the issuing carrier or its authorized travel agent.

Notice of government and airport imposed taxes, surcharges, and fees:
The price of this ticket may include taxes, surcharges, and fees which are imposed on air transportation by government authorities. These taxes, surcharges, and fees which may represent a significant portion of the cost of air travel, are either included in the fare, or shown separately in the "TAX / FEE/ SURCHARGE" box(es) of this ticket. You may also be required to pay taxes, fees and surcharges not already collected.

Notice:
If the passenger's journey involves an ultimate destination or stop in a country other than the country of departure, the Warsaw Convention may be applicable and the Convention governs and in most cases limits the liability of carriers for death or personal injury and in respect of loss of or damage to baggage. See also notices headed "Advice to international Passengers on Limitation of Liability" and "Notice of Baggage Liability Limitations"

Conditions Of Contract
1) As used in this contract, "ticket" means this passengers ticket and baggage check or this itinerary/ receipt if applicable, in the cases of an electronic ticket, of which these conditions and the notices form part, "Carriage" is equivalent to transportation, "Carrier" means all air carriers that carry or undertake to carry the passengers or his baggage here under or perform any other service incidental to such air carriage, "electronic ticket" means the Itinerary/ Receipt issued by or on behalf of carrier, the Electronic Coupons and, if applicable, a boarding document. "Warsaw Convention" means the Convention for the Unifications of Certain Rules Relating to International Carriage by Air, signed at Warsaw, 12th October 1929, or that Convention as amended at The Hague, on 28th September 1955, whichever may be applicable.

2) Carriage hereunder is subject to the rules and limitations relating to liability established by the Warsaw Convention unless such carriage is not "International carriage" as defined by that Convention.

3) To the extent not in conflict with the foregoing carriage and other services performed by each Carrier are subject to:
(i) provisions contained in this ticket,
(ii) applicable tariffs,
(iii) carrier’s conditions of carriage and related regulations which are made part hereof (and are available on applications at the offices of Carrier), except in transportation between a place in the United States or Canada and any place outside thereof to which tariffs in force in those countries apply.

4) Carrier's name may be abbreviated in the ticket, the full name and its abbreviation being set forth in carrier’s tariffs, conditions of carriage, regulations or time tables, carrier’s address shall be the airport of departure  shown opposite the first abbreviation of carrier’s name in the ticket; the agreed stopping places are those places set forth in this ticket or as shown in carrier’s time tables as scheduled stopping places on the passengers route; carriage to be performed hereunder by several successive carriers is regarded as a single operation.

5) An air carrier issuing a ticket for carriage over the lines of another air carrier does so only as its Agent.

6) Any exclusion or limitation of liability of carrier shall apply to and be for the benefit of agents, servants and representatives of carrier and any person whose aircraft is used by a carrier for carriage and its agent, servants and representatives.

7) Checked baggage will be delivered to bearer of the baggage check. In case of damage to baggage moving in international transportation, complaint must be made in writing to carrier forthwith after discovery of damage and, at the latest, within 7 days from receipt; in case of delay, complaint must be made within 21 days from date the baggage was delivered. 8) This ticket is good for carriage for one year from the date of issue, except as otherwise provided in this ticket, in carriers tariff’s, conditions of carriage or related regulations. The fare for carriage hereunder is subject to change prior to commencement of carriage. Carrier may refuse transportation if the applicable fare has not been paid.

9) Carrier undertakes to use its best efforts to carry the passenger and baggage with reasonable dispatch. Times shown in timetables or elsewhere are not guaranteed and form no part of this contract. Carrier may without notice substitute alternate carriers or aircraft, and may alter or omit stopping places shown on the ticket in case of necessity. Schedules are subject to change without notice. 10) Passenger shall comply with Government travel requirements, present exit, entry and other required documents and arrive at airport by time fixed by carrier or, if no time is fixed early enough to complete departure procedures.

12) No agent, servant or representative of carrier has authority to alter, modify or waive any provision of this contract.
