Q1: What is APIS?
A: APIS is Advance Passenger Information System that airlines need to send to the government authorities well in advance before the arrival of the flight into that country. In some cases, some countries need APIS information to be provided even at the time of departure.
 
Q2: Why is APIS required?
A: APIS is required for the following reasons:
• Volume of passenger traffic has increased considerably
• Immigration counters and staff have not increased in the same pace.
• Border Control Agencies have to be more vigilant due to threat posed by international terrorism especially after 9/11
• Inconvenience to passengers due to delays at immigration, customs, security etc.

A: APIS is required for the following countries:

Q4: To which country will Jet Airways send APIS information to?
A: APIS information will be sent to US Authorities for flights in and out of USA and to Canadian Authorities fro flights in and out of Canada.
 
Q5: For which flights will APIS be applicable on Jet Airways?
A: APIS will be applicable for all Jet Airways flights to USA and Canada. This information will be required for inbound and outbound flights.
 
Q6: What is the data that needs to be transmitted to the U.K. Authorities?
A: The data that needs to be transmitted to the U.K. Authorities:
1. Official Travel Identity Document (Passport)
2. Official Travel Identity Document Number
3. Surname and given names as per the Identity Document.
4. Nationality
5. Date of Birth
6. Gender
 
Q7: What will be the benefit of obtaining this information at reservations and / or ticketing?
A: APIS information received at the time of reservations and / or ticketing will help facilitate quick check in and hence will reduce wait time / queues at check in.
 
Q8: What is the data that needs to be transmitted to the USA Authorities?
A: The information heads that need to be provided at the time of reservations and/or ticketing on bookings are:
1. Official Travel Identity Document (Passport)
2. Official Travel Identity Document Data (document number, country of issuance, expiry date)
3. Nationality
4. Surname and given names as per the Identity Document.
5. Date of Birth
6. Gender
7. Country of Residence. (Passengers departing USA do not need to provide this information.)
8. US Destination Address (optional at reservations, mandatory at check in)
The complete Street Name, City, State and Zip Code data is required for all ARRIVING passengers except US Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR), In-transit Passengers* or crew members. Passengers departing USA do not need to provide this information.
* Passengers who are not US citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents and who are traveling onwards to another country within 8 hours of arrival into the US are considered In-transit Passengers.
 
Q9: What is the data that needs to be transmitted to the Canadian Authorities?
A: The following information needs to be provided at the time of booking:
1. Official Travel Identity Document type (Passport)
2. Official Travel Identity Document number
3. Country of issue and Nationality of the Travel Document (This MUST be the same, irrespective of where the document was issued).
4. Surname and given names as per the Travel Identity Document.
5. Date of Birth
6. Gender
7. Date of Expiry of travel Document
